‘All players are in the hot seat’: Irfan Pathan tweets after Chris Morris becomes most expensive IPL player

Chris Morris becomes the most expensive IPL player: the South African all-rounder has set a new record in IPL auction history.

South African all-rounder Chris Morris broke all records to become the most expensive player in Indian Premier League auction history.

Morris, who hasn’t played competitive cricket since IPL 2020 and hasn’t represented South Africa for almost two years now, surprised everyone with the amount of interest the franchises were showing in him.

Having entered the auction with a base price of INR 75 lakhs, Morris stock has reached all-time highs. A four-way battle between the Mumbai Indians, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Rajasthan Royals and the Punjab Kings saw Morris travel to Rajasthan for a whopping INR 16.25 crore.

Morris, who represented the Royals at the 2015 IPL in addition to playing for the Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and RCB, will play in Rajasthan for the second time.

After Morris was bought by Royals, it drew a lot of reaction on social media platforms. Considering how versatile England Moeen Ali (INR 7 crore per CSK), Australia versatile Glenn Maxwell (INR 14.25 crore per RCB), Bangladesh versatile Shakib Al Hasan (INR 3.2 crore per CSK ) and India all-rounder Shivam Dube (INR 4.4 crore per RR) won a lot of money, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan tweeted about the trend.

β€œAll the players are in the hot seat,” Pathan took to his Twitter account to express his opinion.
