RCB buys Glenn Maxwell: The Australian all-rounder continued to make money in the IPL auction after being bought for INR 14.25 crore.
Australian drummer Steve Smith will now play for the Delhi Capitals in the 14th season of the Indian Premier League. Smith, 31, became the first player to receive an auction offer today. Before Smith, Karun Nair, Alex Hales, and Jason Roy all went unsold.
Smith, who was among the 10 players with a base price of INR 2 crore, first wowed the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Soon Delhi Capitals entered the framework by raising the price to INR 2.2 crore.
RCB, who has shown no interest in the former captain of the Rajasthan Royals, has chosen not to let Smith travel to the Delhi capitals where he will join a star batting lineup consisting of Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pants and Marcus Stoinis.

RCB buy Glenn Maxwell for INR 14.25 crore
Versatile Australia Glenn Maxwell, who is fondly known for winning big Indian Premier League paychecks, has once again sparked a bidding war in the auction.
It was the Kolkata Knight Riders who started bidding for Maxwell but quickly got out of the race as RCB and Chennai Super Kings went all out for the right batsman and right arm spinner.

Not seeming to settle for anything less, both franchises continued to elevate the paddle to an unprecedented level. While Maxwell’s punching ability is well known, his dismal IPL 2020 form didn’t seem to affect those franchises. After intense competition, it was the Royal Challengers led by Virat Kohli who pocketed Maxwell for a gigantic INR 14.25 crore.
