Anna Shay is an heiress with money to burn. She gives her Bling Empire teammates some very expensive gifts. Is she generous or does she buy friends?
The fever dream that is Empire bling presents a lifestyle that most people would like to enjoy. The luxury on display in Netflix’s mega-hit actually is incredible. Between parties, tailoring, and fine jewelry (what we all learned was somehow more special than regular costume jewelry), the list of reasons why we want to be part of the Empire bling the gang is endless. However, there is more to the series to enjoy than this enormous wealth of characters. All of the stars of the show, including self-styled villainous Christine Chiu and near-villainous Kim Lee, are often incredibly kind, loving, and generous friends.

Perhaps the kindest, most loving and generous friend of the bunch is our new icon, Anna Shay. Fans and stans can’t get enough of this heiress who levels her enemies with low-key whispers. She leaves in her wake a path of brilliance and wisdom of life accumulated wherever she goes. We are happy to follow and drink it all. When it comes to her younger cast mates, Anna is there for them with her wise words, but she’s also there with her wallet. In the first episode, she took Kelly Mi Li on a private jet to Paris for her birthday. While in Paris, she closed the Boucheron jewelry store so that she could enjoy private shopping. At the store, she gave Kelly a friendship ring valued at $ 7,000. This friendship ring was not the kind of “half heart” piece that leaves a green ring around a finger. The ring that Anna gave was crafted with pave diamonds set in brilliant rose gold. However, Anna’s gift-giving frenzy didn’t end there.
Anna later invited Kevin Kreider, who is actually wealthy (but poor compared to his classmates) to his $ 16 million mansion in Beverly Hills for a private day of shopping in his living room. As representatives of Dior helped them try out the latest fashion trends, Kevin was shocked at the price tags. He pulled on a multi-thousand dollar shirt and marveled at how buttery it felt. He pulled on expensive sneakers and felt he could take on the whole world. However, the prices were too high for him. Anna, who took off her shirt while trying on Dior models, stepped in and told him that whatever he wanted, she bought it. Later, after feeling guilty for accepting the expensive gifts, Kevin attempted to return the expensive threads to Anna. She joked that it would be rude to return gifts in any culture and then told him that she wanted to give him a gift and she did. She went on to state that he shouldn’t be in awe of things, but people and their actions. She concluded her lesson in life by offering to take Kevin on more shopping sprees at the Dior store. Kevin, grinning from ear to ear (because who wouldn’t be giddy to have such a generous new friend) rode his skateboard in his $ 3k Dior tops.
If all that wasn’t enough, consider Anna’s reaction to being paid by Netflix for her appearances on Empire bling. Anna didn’t even touch the checks until someone told her she had to do something with them. So she hid the money in a savings account and hopes to one day throw a party for the crew. She believes the money is theirs to support her.
This riddle of a woman is the real deal through and through. She doesn’t need to buy anyone’s friendship. The line of people waiting to hook up with her is wrapped around the block, twice.
