Glenn Maxwell delighted after joining RCB: The Australian all-rounder will play for his fourth franchise at Royal Challengers Bangalore.
At the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will play for his fourth Indian Premier League franchise. Having made his IPL debut for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2012, Maxwell has since represented the Mumbai Indians and the Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab).
Maxwell, an IPL regular for almost a decade now, has represented Delhi and the Punjab on two occasions.
Known for making big bucks in the biggest T20 league, Bangalore hasn’t let Maxwell’s reputation fall apart despite his obvious struggle to score points last season.
RCB, who beat Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings to acquire the services of Maxwell, spent a total of INR 14.25 crore to buy the 32-year-old.

Maxwell, who recently scored 379 points with a strike rate of 143.56 including three half centuries for the Melbourne Stars in the 2020-21 Big Bash League, took to social media platform Twitter after being purchased by RCB for a sumptuous amount.
“Looking forward to joining @RCBTweets for those years @IPL I can’t wait to do everything to help us lift the trophy!Maxwell tweeted.

In 82 IPL games to date, Maxwell has scored 1,505 points with a strike rate of 154.67. However, it’s his below average of 22.13 that does not justify his potential in the cash-rich league.
Since the 2014 IPL, Maxwell has played more than 10 games in each IPL season, but has only crossed the 200 innings mark twice. Another area of concern that highlights the fact that he usually fails to play winning innings is the right-wing batsman who only scored six IPL half centuries.
