‘What a delivery’: Punjab Kings fans rejoice as Jhye Richardson throws unplayable Yorker at Tim Seifert in 1st T20I

Jhye Richardson throws unplayable yorker: The Australian fast bowler picked a wicket on his first stint at the Oval Hagley.

During the first T20I of the ongoing Australian tour of New Zealand in Christchurch, Australian fast bowler Jhye Richardson only picked a wicket as the second delivery he threw after being introduced into the attack as the bowler first change in third.

Playing his first T20I after almost two years, Richardson let the ball do the talking against New Zealand wicket batsman Tim Seifert (1). In what was a one-time yorker, Seifert was judged insufficient due to the express pace of the ball.

With the bat dropping a bit late, Seifert could do nothing to stop the ball from hitting the stumps. In what is Richardson’s first T20I against New Zealand, the 24-year-old started off on a high note giving 22 points in his first three overs.

Opening the baton with Martin Guptill (0), Seifert added to the hosts’ woes by losing their opening batsman in the first three overs after Aussie captain Aaron Finch won the draw and chose to play. After Captain Kane Williamson (12) was sacked in the sequel, a quick 74-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips brought them back into the game.

Richardson, who was bought by the Punjab Kings at the 2021 Indian Premier League auction for a whopping INR 14 crore last week, wowed his Punjabi fans who turned to the media platform Twitter social to congratulate the right arm melon.
