Justice League director Zack Snyder is still hoping Ben Affleck’s Batman will still fight Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke onscreen.
Zack Snyder still hopes that somehow Ben Affleck Batman will always be face to face with Joe Manganiello on screen. The arch-nemeses were supposed to fight each other in the The batman stand-alone, but once this project was abandoned, this possibility was also rejected. Now the film has been repurposed with Robert Pattinson in the lead, while Matt Reeves is directing. Unlike the original iteration, however, this is in no way connected to the DCEU.
Once Affleck has been confirmed to have left Warner Bros. ‘superhero franchise, the general assumption was that he was totally done with the role. But this is not the case according to recent developments within the DCEU. The actor did additional filming for Snyder Justice League which is slated for release next month via HBO Max. On top of that, he also reprise his role as Batman through Flash movie that is rumored to feature multiple iterations of the Gotham Bat.

Snyder views Affleck’s involvement in DC’s standalone speedster film as an indication that there is still hope his version of Batman can face Manganiello’s Deathstroke. During his recent guest on I Minutemen (via Comic), the filmmaker revealed that despite the circumstances, this is something he continues to be invested in.
“I love Joe, he’s awesome. I would really love to see these two take the plunge, that would be fun. Who knows? We know Ben is going to be in the Flash movie, which is nice to see him [back as Batman]. It flows, it’s nice. “
Originally in the Justice League post-credits scene that debuted Slade Wilson was supposed to set up Affleck The batman. But after Snyder left the project due to a family tragedy, everything was remade, with Lex Luthor’s line instead hinting at the arrival of the Injustice League – something that also didn’t happen. no longer produced so far. With Snyder having the opportunity to release the film’s so-called Snyder Cut that features his planned story, and then a few other additions such as Jared Leto’s Joker involvement, it’s curious if the stinger will be any different as well.
As someone who has benefited from fan moves through the Release the Snyder Cut movement, Snyder knows full well that almost anything is plausible if there is enough clamor for it. While there is currently no plan for Justice League 2 led by him, he understands that Affleck Batman and Manganiello’s Deathstroke face-to-face isn’t out of the realm of possibility that so many share his feelings about them being on screen together. Since both actors are in Snyder Justice League, maybe he went out of his way to tease this scenario to help convince audiences that it’s actually a good idea.
